Comer “Bill” Parnell had the following podium finishes at major championships: 1st in the 1950 British Empire Games 1 mile, 3rd in the 1950 British Empire Games 880 yards. In the 1950 British Empire Games 4×440 yards Relay (with Don Pettie, Jack Hutchins, and Bill Larochelle) Parnell finished fifth.
