Brad Snyder was a three-time Olympian for Canada in the shot put (1996, 2000, 2004) although he never made the final round. Snyder did win two bronze medals at the Pan American Games, in 1999 and 2003, and was the 1995 Pan American Junior Champion. He also won gold in the shot at the 2001 Jeux de la Francophonie.
Snyder went to college in the United States at the University of South Carolina, where he won the NCAA Indoor title in the shot in 1998-99, after placing third in 1997. Snyder won eight SEC (Southeastern Conference) titles in the shot put, winning both indoors and outdoors in 1998-2001 and also won the 1998 NCAA shot put title.
