Biography

Chilean track athlete Leopoldo Palma competed in distances from 100 to 800 metres as well as the hurdles. Palma ran in the 800 metres at the 1912 Stockholm Olympics but did not finish in his heat. He was scheduled to run in the 100 metres, 400 metres, and the 4 × 100 metres relay at the Stockholm Games but did not start in those events. Palma was also the flagbearer for Chile at the Opening Ceremony in Stockholm. Four years later he won the gold medal in the 400 metres hurdles at the 1918 South American Championships in Athletics.
