Biography

Orla Olsen was a long-distance runner who ran the København marathon in 1926 and 1927, finishing with times of 2:56.07 and 3:02.47, respectively. The following year he ran in the marathon at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics but did not finish the course.

After a short career in athletics Orla Olsen joined the Nazi party and co-founded the Danish Nordic Front. Olsen worked as the head of affairs for the National Socialist Workers’ Party of Denmark but later resigned from the organisation. In 1940 he co-founded the Danish Nordic Front before the organisation merged to form The National Block later the same year. Olsen was the regional leader (“Gauleiter”) of the Nazi party in København during World War II.

In July 1947 he was discovered by the Swedish police during a raid on a farm outside of Visby on the island of Gotland where he was planning to travel to Argentina. Olsen was sent back to Denmark where he died two years later at the age of 49.
