Biography

Amador Palma was a Spanish track and field athlete who competed in long-distance races. Palma was the Spanish champion in the 5,000 metres in 1923 and in the 10,000 metres in 1925, with his winning time in the latter standing as a Basque record for nine years. He was also the Spanish cross-country champion in 1923, 1925, and 1927. Palma ran in the cross-country race at the 1924 Paris Olympics which became infamous for being run on one of the hottest days in Parisian history. He was one of the many athletes who failed to finish the course, with the race being won by Finland’s Paavo Nurmi.
