Dominique Van Roost was a Belgian tennis player who played professionally from 1991 to 2000. Van Roost achieved a career-best singles ranking of #9 in the world in October 1998, and a doubles ranking of #21 in the world in October 2000. She played on Belgium’s Fed Cup team from 1991 to 2000 and won an Olympic bronze medal.
On the ITF Circuit Van Roost won seven singles titles from August 1990 to September 1996. She also won one doubles title when she partnered with Andrea Temesvári in Southampton, England, in February 1995. On the WTA Tour Van Roost won four singles and four doubles titles during her career. At Grand Slams her best performance came in the doubles at the 2000 US Open when she and Els Callens reached the semi-finals. Van Roost and Callens would team together at the 2000 Sydney Olympics where they won the bronze medal.
After her retirement Van Roost became the tournament director of the Open de Bruxelles (Brussels Open) and the captain of Belgium’s Fed Cup team. In 1998 Van Roost was named the Belgian Sports Personality of the Year. In October 2001 she became the Vice-President of the Belgian Olympic Committee.
