Biography

Triple jumper Reino Hiltunen represented Finland internationally 11 times between 1948 and 1953, although he never won a major international medal. His most notable appearance, therefore, came at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics, where he finished ninth in a field of 35 competitors. He won the Finnish National Championship in this discipline in 1948 and 1951, came in second in 1952 and 1953, and was third in 1950. He was also third nationally in the long jump in 1950. After retiring in 1955, he served as a coach for the remainder of the decade and was later involved in local sports administration.
