Biography

Finland’s Antero Kivi was a five-time national champion in the discus throw, a two-time holder of the Finnish record, and an Olympic silver medallist. Kivi won his first national title in the discus at the 1925 Finnish championships before winning four consecutive titles from 1927 to 1930. In 1928 he threw 47.45 metres to set a national record before improving the distance in 1931 with a throw of 48.46 metres. Kivi competed in the discus at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics where he threw 47.23 metres in the final to win the silver medal.
