Bror Kraemer was an artillery commander in the Finnish Defense Forces, eventually serving as a colonel. After participating in the Finnish Civil War in 1918 Kraemer studied at military academies in France and Belgium during the first half of the 1920s. During this time he also became a skilled athlete, competing in the high jump. Kraemer was the Finnish champion in the discipline in 1921 and participated in the event at the 1924 Paris Olympics.
From 1938 to 1939 Kraemer was the head of the military district in Seinäjoki in south-west Finland. During World War II he fought in both the Winter War and the Continuation War, serving with the Finnish Army until his retirement in 1951. After his military service Kraemer became the mayor of the southern town of Loviisa, worked as a city councillor, and finally became a sales manager in Helsinki.
