Biography

Ilmari Vesamaa competed in the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics in four different events. He finished the cross-country run ranked 14th individually and was a non-scoring member of the Finnish team, but he failed to qualify for the final of the 5K and steeplechase. Nationally he won Finnish titles in the 5×2,000 metre relay and the team cross-country event. Vesamaa also competed as a race walker, winning the 1922 Finnish title at 10K. He also set Finnish race walking records for the 3,000 and 5,000 metres.

Personal Bests: 5000 – 15:32.0 (1921); 3000S – 10:31.5e (1920).
