Small forward and shooting guard Henrik Rödl was on the German basketball squad that finished seventh at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics after winning the classification match versus Puerto Rico, 96-86. In total, he earned 178 international caps and was European Champion in 1993. He also won a bronze medal at the 2002 World Championships.
On the club level, Rödl played with the University of North Carolina (1989-93) in the United States, helping them win the 1993 NCAA title, and ALBA Berlin (1993-2004). He helped Berlin win seven German Championships (1997-2003), and four German Cups (1997, 1999, 2002-03). In 1995 he also won the Korać-Cup.
Rödl turned to coaching after his active career working with TuS Lichterfelde (2004-05), ALBA Berlin (2005-2010), and TBB Trier (2010-15). In 2017, he was named Chief National Coach and led the team to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, where the team lost their quarter-final versus Slovenia. After the Olympics, Rödl retired.
