Biography

Klaus Bieler won a bronze at the 1974 European Championships in the 100 metres. He won the following national titles: 4 x 100 relay – 1973, 1974 and 1977, and was a runner-up in the 1973 200 indoor, and 1976 60 metre indoor. He also set one world record over in the indoor 50 metres in 1971. In 1974 and 1975 he was a part of the winning team at the German Team Competition. At Montréal 1976 he failed in the second round of the 100 metres and in the semifinals of the sprint relay. Bieler later became a teacher and since February 2007, has been headmaster of the Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium in Wolfsburg.
