Farooq Khan

During the 1960s Pakistani field hockey player Farooq Khan represented both Lahore and Railways in domestic matches, winning the national title in 1965 with the latter. Khan also had a brief international career, playing for the national team for two years. In 1968 he was named as an alternate for Khalid Mahmood at the Mexico City Olympics, but he did not play in any matches. Pakistan went on to win gold at the Games, beating Australia 2–1 in the final.

In addition to playing field hockey Khan was also a noted track runner, with his speed transferring to the hockey pitch. He became a national champion in the 800 metres and represented Pakistan in the same event at the 1962 Asian Games, finishing seventh in the final.
