Biography
Rudolf Dobermann emigrated in 1930 to Brazil where he settled as a sports coach at São Paulo, where he died in 1979. From 1934 he worked for the Brazilian Athletics Federation. He later became a merchant. In his youth he was a gymnast but then turned to athletics.
He won German Championships in the long jump in 1925-27, and was runner-up in 1929, placing third in the shot put in 1930. In 1927, he also won the British long jump title. Dobermann set a European record in 1928 with 7.64, while in 1927 he was the first German to better 7.50. He disappointed at Amsterdam in 1928, placing last of the four German participants, failing to qualify for the final.
