Biography

Javelin thrower Günter Glasauer was eliminated in the qualifying round of the 1972 Munich Olympics. He never managed to win a German Championship, but played basketball in the German Bundesliga with TV Wetzlar and USC Heidelberg. In 1975 he broke his ankle during a game against SSV Hagen and had to give up basketball, and turned to coaching in Speyer. His model of coaching in coordination with clubs and school was the forerunner of the sports colleges developed later in Germany. He also became a teacher and trained teachers until his retirement. Glasauer eventually emigrated to Austria and settled in Vienna. He was married to teammate Waltraud Romberger.

Personal Best: JT – 80.88 (1972).
