José Santori played for BSN Capitanes de Arecibo in Puerto Rico, helping the team go undefeated in 1959 when they won the BSN National Title. He later played for Rio Piedras, winning league scoring titles with them in 1963 and 1968.
After his playing career ended Santori became a color broadcaster of BSN games in Puerto Rico. He also wrote a column in the El Nuevo Dia newspaper, and did a daily television show during the BSN season for WAPA-TV’s Nitocentro 4. Santori was also a top tennis player and did commentary on tennis tournaments as well.
Santori later became a strong chess player and was a member of the Puerto Rico Chess Federation. His daughter, María Eugenia Santori, was even a better player who competed in the 1994 Chess Olympiad representing Puerto Rico. In 2006, José Santori was honored with an award recognizing his career as a basketball player and sportscaster.
