Biography

High jumper Ralf Sonn struggled to defeat his compatriot German high jumpers Dietmar Mögenburg and Carlo Thränhardt, but aspired to world class centimeter by centimeter, claiming his personal best of 2.39 in 1991. He came in sixth at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic Games. Sonn also finished 4th at the 1993 Worlds, 7th at the 1990 Europeans and 12th at the 1994 Europeans. Sonn won a bronze medal in 1992 at the World Indoors. In Germany he was national champion outdoors in 1992, and indoors in 1990-93, and 1995-96. He married hurdler Caren Jung, but they later divorced.

By profession Sonn was a manager for finance and administration in a company dealing with internet services as a marketplace for the branches pharmaceuticals, chemicals and life science. He later owned an agency for marketing and communication.
