Born in İstanbul in 1907 Vasilios Stavrinos later moved to Greece where he joined the AEK sports club in Athina. Stavrinos won multiple Greek athletics titles including the 400 metres (1932), 800 metres (1927, 1932), and the 4 x 400 metres (1929, 1931, 1934). He was also the champion at the Balkan Games in the 400 metres (1929) and the 4 x 400 metres (1930, 1934). Stavrinos ran in the 400 metres, 800 metres, and the 4 × 400 metres relay at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics but did not progress from the heats in any of those.
