Biography

Ibolya Tilkovszky began her sports career in 1949 as an athlete for the BEAC. In 1950 Tilkovszky signed with Bp. Dózsa and stayed until the end of her career. In 1952, at the age of just 19, she won the Hungarian 100 metres championship. In the following years she was more successful in the 200 metres and the relay, as evidenced by three individual and four relay championship titles.

Between 1951 and 1956 Tilkovszky competed for the Hungarian national team. She competed in the 100 metres and the relay at the 1952 Helsinki Olympics and the 1954 Bern European Championships, but she failed to reach the finals on either occasion.

In 1956, for cost-saving reasons, the Hungarian relay team was not sent to the Olympics, which practically ended her sports career. After that Tilkovszky remained in the administrative position and financial manager of Újpesti Dózsa. Her husband, János Greminger, was a national basketball player, coach, and sports manager.

Personal Best: 100 – 12.0 (1955).
