Praveem Kumar was an Indian hammer and discus thrower who competed at the 1968 and 1972 Olympic Games. His greatest international success came in winning a silver medal at the 1966 Commonwealth Games in the hammer throw. Kumar also won four medals at the Asian Games, with golds in the 1966 and 1970 discus throw. He added a silver in the 1974 discus and a bronze in the 1970 hammer throw.
Kumar studied at Khalsa College in Amritsar and later worked for many years with the Border Security Force (BSF). During that time, he also became a well-known Indian actor, appearing as the character Bheem in the popular television series Mahabharat. Kumar also appeared in almost 50 movies.
