Biography

Damir Solman was a Croatian from Zagreb who was in the first great generation of Yugoslav basketball players. In his palmarès he won two Olympic silver medals (Mexico City 1968, Montréal 1976), a gold and a silver medal at the World Championships held in Yugoslavia 1970 and Puerto Rico 1974, two gold medals (Spain 1973, Yugoslavia 1975) and a silver (Italy 1969) at the European Championships and two golds at the Mediterranean Games.

Solman was the all-time leading scorer for Jugoplastika Spalato, the team for which he played for nine years (winning two Top Leagues, three Yugoslavian Cups, and two Korac Cups) before moving to Italy. He then played for Vigevano, from 1977-79, where he contributed to the promotion of the team to the Italian Top League.
