Jaime Oncins was a Brazilian tennis player who played professionally from 1988 to 2001. Oncins achieved a career-best singles ranking of #34 in the world in May 1993, and a doubles ranking of #22 in the world in July 2000. He played on Brazil’s Davis Cup team from 1991 to 2001.
On the ATP Challenger and ITF Futures circuit Oncins won eight singles titles and 11 doubles titles during his career. Stepping up to the ATP Tour he won five doubles titles between 1991 and 1999. He also won two singles titles, both in 1992, with victories against Renzo Furlan and Luis Herrera.
At Grand Slams Oncins had his best results at the French Open. In 1992 he reached the fourth round in the singles, and in 2000 he was a semi-finalist in the doubles. At the 2001 edition he and Paola Suárez of Argentina reached the finals in the mixed doubles but lost to the Spanish duo of Tomás Carbonell and Vivi Ruano.
Oncins competed in the singles and doubles at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics where he got to the quarter-finals in the former before losing to Andrey Cherkasov. Eight years later he returned to the Olympics, playing in the doubles with Guga Kuerten.
