Luiz Mattar was a Brazilian tennis player who played professionally from 1985 to 1995. Mattar achieved a career-best singles ranking of #29 in the world in May 1989, and a doubles ranking of #55 in the world in January 1991.
Mattar won his first ATP singles and doubles title at the Guarujá Open in Brazil in January 1987. In the singles he beat compatriot Cássio Motta in final and teamed with Motta in the doubles to beat the German pair of Martin Hipp and Tore Meinecke. Mattar won a total of seven ATP singles titles and five doubles titles during his career.
Mattar competed in the singles and doubles at the 1988 Seoul Olympics and the 1992 Barcelona Olympics but only progressed past the first round on one occasion. He was on Brazil’s Davis Cup team from 1986 to 1995, helping the team to reach the semi-finals in the 1992 competition.
