Biography

Annarita Sidoti was the first great Italian female walker. She won 10 Italian titles, but the highlights of her career were winning the 1997 World Championship, and European Championships in both 1990 and 1998 in the 10 km, adding a silver medal in the 1994 Europeans. She competed at three Olympics (1992-2000), with a best finish of seventh in 1992. Her other major titles included the 1994 European Indoors over 3 km, the 1995 Universiade and 1996 European Cup in the 10 km. Sidoti set six Italian walk records, one each at 5K and 10K, and four in the 20K.

Sidoti later became a Councillor for Sports in San Giorgio di Gioiosa Marea and was an actress in one movie, “The Accomplices” by Emanuela Piovano.

Personal Bests: 10kmW – 41:46 (1994); 20kmW – 1-28:38 (2000).
