Vittorina Vivenza

Vittorina Vivenza was an Italian athlete who competed in swimming, skiing, ice skating, and fencing as a youth but discovered running at age 14. Vivenza won a bronze medal in the discus at the 1930 World Women’s Games in Praha (Prague). She also competed at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics in the 4x100 relay. Internationally, she was capped 4 times for Italy from 1927-30.

Domestically Vivenza won a national title in the long jump in 1927 (4.81) and won the Italian discus title three times (1928-30). She was Italian record holder in the shot put (9.17 – 1927) and four times with the discus (from 32.64 to 35.38, 1928-29). After marriage, she had nine children, 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Vivenza donated all the 102 medals she won to the homeland in 1935 and died in Aosta at 94 in 2007.
