Biography
Bruno Betti finished sixth in the 1934 European Championships 10000 metres.
Bruno Betti was an Italian track runner and sports manager. After a sixth place in the 10,000 metres at the first European Championships at Torino in 1934, he then specialised in middle-distance running. As a 25-year-old, he competed at the 1936 Berlin Olympics in the 3,000 metres steeplechase but did not advance from the heats.
Betti’s sporting career ended during World War II when he broke his leg during an air raid. He became a talent scout and coach with Firenze’s two athletics clubs, the CUS (Universitary team) and Assi Giglio Rosso. In 2001 a sports facility in Firenze was named in his honour.
