Biography

Alberto Cavallero was a long-distance and Marathon runner, and first attracted attention at the Torino international Marathon in 1923. He was in the lead until being caught by the Olympian Ettore Blasi around 30 km, who went on to win by five minutes, but in finishing second Cavallero set a personal best of 2-58:22.

At the Olympic trial the following year, Emilio Alciati won ahead of Romeo Bertini and Cavallero. A month later at the Paris Games, they were three of the six Italian athletes who competed in the Marathon. Bertini won a silver medal, while Cavallero tired, and withdrew at the half-way mark.

Personal Best: Mar – 2-58:22 (1923).
