Angelo Davoli was a road and track middle-distance runner from Genova. He was relatively late coming to the sport (aged 25), but enjoyed an active career from 1921-30. He won nine Italian titles in five different events, winning the 1,500 metres (1927), 5,000 metres (1924 and 1926), 3000 steeplechase (1928 and 1930), 4x400 metres relay (1927) and finally the cross-county title three times (1923-24 and 1926).
Internationally, Davoli competed at the 1924 Paris Olympics where he was eliminated in the heats of the 1,500 metres. Later that year he competed in the Detherling Cup in London, and won the 880 yards and three miles. He continued to race on the continent throughout the 1920s, and won races in The Netherlands and England.
After quitting racing, Davoli went to work for Nafta Genova, and he went on to run the firm for many years. Since the 1980s, there has been an athletic meeting at Genova called the Angelo Davoli Memorial, organised by Don Bosco Universale - Atletica Quadrifoglio.
Personal Bests: 1500 – 4:00.6 (1927); 3000 – 8:49.6 (1925).
