Enrico Torre

Enrico Torre was an all-round Italian athlete between the two World Wars. He started as a sprinter in 1920 but also achieved 6.27 in the long jump as early as 1923. Torre’s first major tournament was the 1924 Paris Olympics where he was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 100 metres and ran in the 4x100. In the following years he distinguished himself in the long jump, setting a mark of 7.08 in August 1926 and a year later won international matches against Czechoslovakia and Hungary.

In 1928 in Amsterdam, however, Torre was eliminated in the long jump qualifying round. He won 12 international caps from 1924-33. Domestically, Torre won three titles – 200m in 1925, long jump in 1927 (6.97), and pentathlon in 1934 – after which he retired.
