Biography

Giovanni Turba was an Italian 400 metre specialist athlete in the 1930s. His only international major tournament was the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics where, running the second leg, he helped lead the 4x400 relay to the final where they finished sixth. He won eight international caps from 1931-35.

Domestically, Turba never won a national title in the 400, mostly due to the presence of Ettore Tavernari. At the national championships Turba was third in 1933 in Firenze and second in 1934 in Milano. He won national titles in the 4x800 metre relay in 1931 with Pro Patria Milano and for three consecutive years, from 1934-36, in the 4x400, all with Pro Patria Milano.

Personal Bests: 400 - 49.0 (1933).
