Adlin Mair-Clarke

Adlin Mair-Clarke was a Jamaican sprinter who competed at the 1964 and 1968 Olympics. In 1966 she helped Jamaica win 4x100 relay medals at the Commonwealth Games (bronze) and the Central American and Caribbean Games (gold). Mair-Clarke continued to run as she got older, breaking a world record for the 200 metres at the 1997 National Masters Indoor Track & Field Championships in Massachusetts. She also twice ran the New York City Marathon.

Mair-Clarke settled in the United States, earning a masters’ degree in social work (MSW) from Fordham University, and working towards her doctorate in clinical social work at Adelphi University. She became a licensed clinical social worker and was licensed to practice psychotherapy in New York. Mair-Clarke worked for the American Red Cross for over 35 years. In 2020 she contracted the coronavirus and died from the effects of COVID-19.
