Biography

Juan Carlos Uder was a two-time basketball Olympian for Argentina, playing in 1948 and 1952. His greatest achievement on court came in 1950 when he helped Argentina win the first World Championship. He also won two silver medals at the Pan American Games, in 1951 and 1955. In April 1956, he was suspended for life by the Argentine Basketball Federation, along with several other players in what was felt to be a politically motivated penalty, when they were accused of receiving prizes after the 1950 World Championships and on a 1953 tour made with Racing Club through Central America. Uder later became a coach, directing Sportivo Alsina and also taught basketball in Lanús. In 2019 Uder was proclaimed “Illustrious Citizen of the City of Lanús”.
