Arvīds Ķibilds was a Latvian all-round track and field athlete who won multiple national titles during the 1920s. Ķibilds won his first Latvian title in 1921 when he became the national champion in the shot put. He retained his title the following year before winning a third in 1924. He also won three consecutive titles in the javelin from 1923 to 1925, along with becoming the national champion in the pentathlon in 1924. Ķibilds competed in the shot put, discus throw, and javelin at the 1924 Paris Olympics, with his best result coming in the latter where he finished 16th. In addition to the throwing events he also competed in the 10 kilometres race walk and had the honour of being the flagbearer for Latvia at the Opening Ceremony. Towards the end of World War II he was arrested by the Soviet authorities and was sent to Siberia for 25 years, but was later pardoned.
