Smart Akraka was a Nigerian sprinter who ran the 4x100 relay for Nigeria at the 1960 Roma Olympics. He ran both short sprints and the sprint relay at the 1958 British Empire and Commonwealth Games, winning a silver medal in the relay, but was eliminated in the quarter-finals of both sprints. Akraka became President of the Athletic Federation of Nigeria from 1993-96. His daughter, Maria Akraka, was a top middle-distance runner in Sweden, setting national records there in the 800 and 1,500 metres, both indoors and outdoors.
