Biography

Zhang Xuelei had a long basketball career as a player and coach in both mainland China and Taiwan, with him later becoming a naturalised citizen in Singapore. Zhang was a member of the Chinese national team that finished third at the FIBA Asian Championships in 1985, before winning the tournament two years later. He then played in three matches for the team at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, scoring 16 points. Domestically he played for Tonghuai, helping the team to win four championship titles (1993–94, 1996–97). Zhang then represented Taiwan, before moving into a coaching role. He coached several teams in addition to having a stint with the Taiwan national side, leading them at the 2010 Asian Games.
