Biography

At the Norwegian track and field championships Einar Tommelstad won more than a dozen medals across multiple events including eight golds. Tommelstad won his first medal in 1927 with bronze in the standing high jump. The following year he became the national champion in the high jump before winning gold in the standing high jump (1929, 1933), standing long jump (1929, 1931–33), and pentathlon (1930). In 1928 he competed in the high jump at the Amsterdam Olympics, finishing 11th with a best effort of 1.84 metres in the final.
