Biography

Peruvian track and field athlete Francisco Valdez competed in events from 400 to 1,500 metres. Valdez was part of the quartet that won bronze in the 4 x 400 metres relay at the 1929 South American Championships in Athletics in Lima. At the 1936 Berlin Olympics he was selected to run in the 800 and 1,500 metres, but did not advance from the heats in either race. Two years after the Olympics he won gold in the 4 x 400 metres at the 1938 Bolivarian Games in Bogotá.

Personal Bests: 800 – 2:00.0 (1929); 1500 – 4:09.4 (1936).
