Polish track and field athlete Elżbieta Żebrowska specialised as a sprinter and a hurdler, winning multiple medals in the 1960s. Żebrowska first achieved success as a junior athlete, becoming the European under-20 champion in the 80 metres hurdles and the 4 x 100 metres relay in 1964. That same year she also won her first Polish title with victory in the 4 x 100 metres. Two years later she won gold in the relay at the European Championships, along with compatriots Danuta Straszyńska, Irena Kirszenstein, and Ewa Kłobukowska, as well as bronze in the 80 metres hurdles. Her success in the hurdles continued with her becoming the Polish champion the same year. Żebrowska ran in the 80 metres hurdles at the 1968 Mexico City Olympics, coming seventh in the final. She was also listed as an alternate for the 4 x 100 metres relay, but the Polish team was eliminated in the heats.
