Biography

Gertruda Kilosówna was a Polish middle-distance runner who represented Pogoń Katowice. Kilosówna took up middle-distance running when she was 13. In 1927 Kilosówna became the Polish champion in the 1,000 metres, where she set a national record, and made her international debut for Poland. During 1927 and 1928 Kilosówna became a four-time Polish champion. Kilosówna also set eight national records and represented Poland five times at international competitions from 1927 to 1931. At the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics Kilosówna competed in the 800 metres. She reached the final of the event and finished in eighth place. Kilosówna died from cancer of the larynx at the age of 25.
