Boxer Hermann Mazurkiewitsch was Austrian bantamweight champion in 1948 and consequently qualified for the London Olympics that same year. Unfortunately he lost his first-round bout by a decision to Uruguayan Pedro Carrizo. At the 1951 European Championships Mazurkiewitsch had his greatest international success, winning the bronze medal. He never turned professional.
