Biography

Anacleto Pinto ran the marathon for Portugal at both the 1976 and 1980 Olympics, placing 22nd and 16th, respectively. Pinto was a four-time Portuguese cross-country champion, winning in 1966 when only 18-years-old, and remains (through 2016) the youngest ever champion in that event in Portugal. He was national champion on the track in the 5,000 metres in 1966, 1976, and 1977, and won the Portuguese title in the marathon in 1976 and 1978.
