Biography

A distance runner who competed at four Olympics, Colleen de Reuck was born in South Africa and competed for that nation in 1992, 1996, and 2000, but later transferred allegiance to the United States, obtaining US nationality on 21 February 2002, and ran for them at the 2004 Athina Olympics. Her best Olympic finish was ninth at the 1992 Barcelona marathon.

De Reuck won a bronze medal at the 2002 World Cross-Country Championships, running for the United States for the first time internationally and helping the USA team to a silver medal. She also won a team bronze medal at that event in 2003.

De Reuck won three city marathons, most notably the 1996 Berlin Marathon. She also won the 1993 race in The Hague, Netherlands, and the 1995 Honolulu Marathon. She had a very long career, finishing eighth overall at the 2009 Boston Marathon at age 45, and placing 11th at the 2017 Houston Marathon at age 52.
