Joseph Vincken was born in the Netherlands but grew up in Liège. The winner of the 1919 national title in featherweight, Vincken was one of eight Liège-based boxers to compete for Belgium at the 1920 Olympic Games held in Antwerpen (Antwerp) where he lost in his sole match to Edoardo Garzena of Italy. He turned professional shortly following the Olympics and competed for another decade, fighting mostly around Belgium and in France. His record was 21 wins (5 by KO), 23 losses (5 by KO) and 7 ties.
