Biography

During the 1920s Swedish track and field athlete Thor Österdahl competed in sprint races for Kronobergs IK in Stockholm. In 1921 Österdahl won his first medal at the national championships when he was part of the quartet that finished in third place in the 4 x 100 metres relay. His next medal came at the 1923 championships with a bronze in the 400 metres. He won a second bronze in the same event the following year, before winning silver in 1925. His best success came in the 200 metres, as he became the Swedish champion in 1926, after winning silver in 1924, and bronze in 1925. Österdahl also won a silver medal in the 100 metres at the 1924 championships. At the 1924 Paris Olympics he ran in the 100 metres and the 4 × 100 metres relay, reaching the semi-finals in the latter.
