Czechoslovak track and field athlete Jiří Svoboda represented Moravská Slavia Brno. Svoboda competed in the javelin throw at the 1924 Paris Olympics but failed to register a valid mark. He was also scheduled to participate in the pentathlon and the decathlon but did not start in either. He had better success in the three years following the Paris Games with wins in the discus, javelin, and shot put at various university athletic meets. Svoboda graduated from the Masaryk University Faculty of Law in 1931 and began to work as a law clerk. Sadly he died only six years later at the regional hospital in Brno in May 1937 at the age of 33.
