As a junior, Ekkachai Janthana was selected for the Olympic 4×100 m team in 1996. After that he has been a member of the team on several international occations, winning gold at the Asian Championships 2000 and 2002 and the Asian Games 2002 and 2006. His best distance is the 200 m, he placed 5th in the Asian Championship in 2000 after achieving a personal best of 20.91 in his heat.
