Seydi Dinçtürk

Domestically, Seydi Dinçtürk’s relatively brief competitive track and field career saw him twice break the Turkish national record at 800 metres. Internationally, his most significant appearance came at the 1948 London Olympics, where he was eliminated in the opening round of both the 800 metres and the 4x400 metres relay, in the latter alongside Rıza Maksut İşman, Doğan Acarbay, and Kemal Horulu. Dinçtürk retired from active competition in 1951, but then taught physical education at TED Ankara College from 1954 through 1984. At the time of his death, aged 97, he was reported to be the last survivor of Turkey’s delegation to the 1948 London Games and the oldest living Turkish Olympian, although Kemal Özçelik may have been older.
