Tatyana Goyshchik took up athletics in 1972, when she was already 20-years-old. The apex of her career came at the 1980 Olympics, where she won a gold medal in the 4x400 relay. Earlier in the year, Goyshchik had won bronze in the 400 at the European Indoor Championships. Goyshchik never won a Soviet title, winning a silver and two bronzes at the 1979 Soviet Championships. After finishing her sports career, Goyshchik worked as a high school teacher and athletics coach in Moskva.
