Biography

Polish boxer Wiesław Rudkowski earned a silver medal as a light-middleweight at the 1972 München Olympics, losing the final against German Dieter Kottysch by a close 3-2 decision. He had reached the quarterfinals four years earlier as a middleweight at Mexico City.

At the European Championships Rudkowski won a bronze in 1971, a silver in 1973, and was light-middleweight champion in 1975. He also was a 10-time Polish Champion in 1966 (welterweight) and 1967-75 (light-middleweight). Rudkowski finished his career in 1975 with a record of 248 victories in 268 bouts. He later worked as a boxing coach in Warszawa and was the coach of the Polish national team.
