Kim Attlesey was the daughter of Dick Attlesey, a former world record holder in the 120 yard hurdles, but Kim was a long jumper. She competed in the 1972 Olympic Games while still a student at Corona Del Mar High School in California. Kim Attlesey won the 1971 AAU title in the long jump. She attended Orange Coast Junior College and competed for the Los Angeles Track Club.
